In California, the number of electric and hybrid cars exceeded 1 million

The number of electric cars and hybrid cars registered in the U.S. state of Rational Ecology has exceeded 1 million.

This is evidenced by the California Energy Commission (California Energy Commission), reports greendeal.org.ua.

As of January 31, 2021, 663 thousand cars, which use only electric power, and 379 thousand hybrid cars were registered in California. Electric cars accounted for the bulk of sales: 74.44% (183.9 thousand units) of new cars, and 25.56% (63 thousand units) of hybrid cars.

The total share of vehicles that use electric power accounted for about 12% of all cars sold in the state in 2021. Meanwhile, according to estimates Bloomberg, the tipping point, when sales of electric cars will disappear, may occur when their part will account for at least 10% of car sales. China and Europe have already reached this point.

The number of electric cars in California reached one million in 11 years. The first hybrid cars - Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt - began to be sold in the state by the end of 2010. Two years later, California began producing Tesla Model S sedans, the most popular electric cars in the state. Last year, their sales accounted for 75% of the total sales of electric cars in California.

As noted by Bloomberg, the government of California, which is actively fighting the pollution of docklands, encourages drivers to buy electric cars. In particular, the state has a Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP) program, under which residents can receive from $1 to $7,000 for purchasing or leasing various types of electric vehicles.

In 2020, California Governor Gov. Gen. Newsom signed a decree to end sales of gasoline-powered cars until 2035. Rational Ecology in on our earth
